{"id":337,"date":"2009-03-08T08:48:02","date_gmt":"2009-03-08T12:48:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/?p=337"},"modified":"2009-03-08T09:47:26","modified_gmt":"2009-03-08T13:47:26","slug":"thankfulness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/thankfulness\/","title":{"rendered":"Thankfulness"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>These days, it feels like we&#8217;re all living in a state of near-terror, as budgets crash and job disappear.\u00c2\u00a0 So here is a list of things that I&#8217;m thankful for, the small things that make life wonderful:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The sunshine streaming through our windows on a greyish March day<\/li>\n<li>The deciduous trees that keep that same sunshine from coming into our house in the heat of summer<\/li>\n<li>Jim<\/li>\n<li>Ophy, the fat n&#8217; fluffy sweetie pie lovebug of a cat<\/li>\n<li>Pippa, the bit too skinny now but still beautiful lap slut of a cat<\/li>\n<li>Our woodstove<\/li>\n<li>Books<\/li>\n<li>Scrabble games with Jim, even though I usually lose<\/li>\n<li>Those a-ha moments for the students I tutor, when a new mental door opens up for them<\/li>\n<li>The unadulterated smiles on the faces of the babies at the infant storytime<\/li>\n<li>Being called &#8220;My Abby&#8221; by one of the toddlers who frequents the library<\/li>\n<li>Discussions about books and reading\u00c2\u00a0with the elementary school kids who like to chat with me after school<\/li>\n<li>The heart-pumping buzz of shoveling the driveway in a snowstorm<\/li>\n<li>Dark chocolate<\/li>\n<li>Mark T. Wendell Formosa Keemun Tea (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/marktwendell.com\/MTWKeemun.htm\" title=\"M.T.W.
