{"id":302,"date":"2009-01-24T19:08:52","date_gmt":"2009-01-24T23:08:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/?p=302"},"modified":"2009-01-24T19:08:52","modified_gmt":"2009-01-24T23:08:52","slug":"a-few-moments","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/a-few-moments\/","title":{"rendered":"A few moments"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A few fun moments from the past week:<\/p>\n<p>During Jennifer&#8217;s infant storytime, a brother (age 5) escorted his sister (age 2) to the bathroom while mom stayed in the storytime with the baby.\u00c2\u00a0 The brother, less than enthusiastic\u00c2\u00a0about being in charge of his younger sister,\u00c2\u00a0sat in the comfy chairs outside the bathroom while\u00c2\u00a0his newly potty trained sister did what she needed to do.\u00c2\u00a0 Sister could have used a little more help &#8211; when she was done peeing, she came running out of the bathroom with no pants on.\u00c2\u00a0 Her brother sighed, \u00c2\u00a0rolled his eyes and said, &#8220;Put your pants on!!!!!&#8221;\u00c2\u00a0 Which she then did.<\/p>\n<p>In the fifth grade book group, one of the members had a particularly intelligent remark about <em>The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe<\/em>, and she asked me if I was going to post her comment on the internet.\u00c2\u00a0 Hmmm.\u00c2\u00a0 I wonder if that family reads this blog&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday afternoon two third grade girls were hanging out on the chairs by my desk after school.\u00c2\u00a0 It was Friday,\u00c2\u00a0and homework wasn&#8217;t hanging over their heads, so they whiled away the time writing riddles, which they shared with me.\u00c2\u00a0 Some of the riddles were really good, too &#8211; I was impressed!<\/p>\n<p>Three of my most enthusiastic children&#8217;s room patrons\u00c2\u00a0stopped by mid-week, and were intrigued by the stuffed animals sent to us by the World Wildlife Fund as a thank-you for the donation the Friends made to WWF as part of the summer reading program.\u00c2\u00a0 The stuffed animals are displayed on my desk with the thank-you plagues and information about the two animals, polar bears and manatees.\u00c2\u00a0 But these three kids enhanced the display by making nameplates for the two stuffed animals (the polar bear is now &#8220;Snowy&#8221; and the manatee is now &#8220;Norman&#8221;) and pulling books on each animal from the collection.\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During the preschool storytime on Thursday, one little girl started to feel pretty crummy.\u00c2\u00a0 She lay down on the floor, rather miserable, and her sweet twin sister sat rubbing her back to comfort her.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 (Needless to say, they went home soon after.)<\/p>\n<p>Just a few tidbits from the past few days.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A few fun moments from the past week: During Jennifer&#8217;s infant storytime, a brother (age 5) escorted his sister (age 2) to the bathroom while mom stayed in the storytime with the baby.\u00c2\u00a0 The brother, less than enthusiastic\u00c2\u00a0about being in charge of his younger sister,\u00c2\u00a0sat in the comfy chairs outside the bathroom while\u00c2\u00a0his newly potty &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/a-few-moments\/\" class=\"more-link\">Continue reading <span class=\"screen-reader-text\">A few moments<\/span> <span class=\"meta-nav\">&rarr;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[5,11],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-302","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-children","category-librarianship"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/302","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=302"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/302\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=302"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=302"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=302"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
