{"id":68,"date":"2006-10-22T20:34:10","date_gmt":"2006-10-23T00:34:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/?p=68"},"modified":"2007-08-09T20:39:10","modified_gmt":"2007-08-10T00:39:10","slug":"tiredagain","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/tiredagain\/","title":{"rendered":"tired&#8230;again"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m really not complaining, more just explaining.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m tired again.\u00c2\u00a0 And once again, my blog entries are suffering.\u00c2\u00a0 Days like these, I wonder how people manage to work as many hours as I do AND have children.\u00c2\u00a0 I really really wonder.\u00c2\u00a0 Because I certainly couldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t pull it off!<\/p>\n<p>Though it has been a particularly jam-packed couple of weeks, with one more overscheduled week coming up.\u00c2\u00a0 Here are some highlights of the week starting tomorrow:<\/p>\n<p>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m going to try out Gail Carson Levine\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s new book on creative writing for kids with my student \u00e2\u20ac\u0153John\u00e2\u20ac\u009d tomorrow night.\u00c2\u00a0 He and I have been working exclusively on non-fiction writing, and he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s gotten pretty good at that, so now seems like a perfect time to try some fiction; and how fabulous that Levine\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s book just came out and just arrived at the library.<\/p>\n<p>Another highlight of the coming week is the second meeting of the Bagels n\u00e2\u20ac\u2122 Books group for 4th and 5th graders on Tuesday afternoon.\u00c2\u00a0 Group membership has reached the nice round number of twelve (that will be the maximum, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m afraid &#8211; perhaps I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll have to start additional groups) and we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be discussing Edward Eager\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s book <em>Half Magic<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 Should be fun!<\/p>\n<p>Also on Tuesday, another infant and toddler storytime.\u00c2\u00a0 Since I worked this Saturday at the library, I was able to spend an hour or so cooking up a plan for this week\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s storytime that (hopefully) will be engaging and fun for all.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m slowly building up my repetoire and gaining a sense of how many songs and fingerplays realistically can fit into a twenty-minute program.<\/p>\n<p>And on Wednesday morning, the last morning session with \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Josie,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d one of my favorite students.\u00c2\u00a0 Josie has now finished Step 6 of the Wilson Reading System, and her parents think this might be a good time to phase me out so that she can sleep a little later on Wednesday mornings.\u00c2\u00a0 Josie and I have bravely and happily been meeting at 7:15 &#8211; before her school bus arrives, and before I need to go to work &#8211; and we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re both a wee bit exhausted!\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll miss working with Josie, though, since she\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a bright, engaged, hardworking, and happy kid.<\/p>\n<p>So that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s my week in brief.\u00c2\u00a0 Next weekend I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll get some sleep.\u00c2\u00a0 Then I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll start looking for a new student\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6\u00c2\u00a0 : )<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m really not complaining, more just explaining.
