We\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re socked in by a snow storm here; the library is closed today, and I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m home.\u00c2\u00a0 Jim took a personal day rather than drive the fishtail-happy, seventeen-year-old Honda in these slippery conditions.\u00c2\u00a0 So we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve both been reading by the wood stove.\u00c2\u00a0 Jim\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s working on a book Jean gave him for Christmas, Frank Conroy\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Time and Tide<\/em>, and I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve just finished reading Carol Gorman\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s book Games<\/em>.\u00c2\u00a0 I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m working through my thoughts on Games<\/em>, trying to figure out how it ranks on the literary scale.\u00c2\u00a0 It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s one of those books that will need to sit at the back of my head for a few hours, or a day, before I can coherently and concisely say what I need to say about it.<\/p>\n

In other news, since the library is closed today, the Create a Valentine workshop has been cancelled.\u00c2\u00a0 I spent the morning calling all the parents of the kids who had signed up to let them know that the program wouldn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t run.\u00c2\u00a0 One disappointed mom asked me whether it would be rescheduled.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Hmmm,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d I said, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Since today is Valentine\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Day, and it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a Valentine card making workshop, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not sure that it would have any real relevancy after today.\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00c2\u00a0 Not to mention, though I didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t tell the mom this, there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s no room in the library calendar to reschedule this until February 28th, by which time a Valentine project would seem REALLY silly.<\/p>\n

On the bright side, I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m all set for next year\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Create a Valentine program!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
