{"id":65,"date":"2007-02-11T20:25:08","date_gmt":"2007-02-12T00:25:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/?p=65"},"modified":"2007-02-11T20:25:08","modified_gmt":"2007-02-12T00:25:08","slug":"curiously-fabulous","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/abbykingsbury.org\/books\/curiously-fabulous\/","title":{"rendered":"Curiously fabulous"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Most of us at the library keep a tin of Altoids in our desk drawer.\u00c2\u00a0 It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a functional thing: if you have garlic for lunch, you need a remedy.\u00c2\u00a0 After all, you are breathing on the public all day; might as well be minty fresh.<\/p>\n<p>Much as I appreciate Altoids, I can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t say that I search them out.\u00c2\u00a0 I use them to fight garlic, and to keep my gastric equilibrium when suffering from a migraine (fact: peppermint oil defeats migraine nausea).\u00c2\u00a0 But I certainly don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t crave Altoids, nor do I really enjoy them. Altoids are what they are.<\/p>\n<p>Or so I thought.\u00c2\u00a0 Yesterday in Brooks Pharmacy, I was brought to a dead stop in front of a display of a new Altoids product:\u00c2\u00a0 Altoids dipped in dark chocolate.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Could be nasty,\u00e2\u20ac\u009d I thought, \u00e2\u20ac\u0153but then again, could be fabulous\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>And the verdict is \u00e2\u20ac\u201d they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re fabulous.\u00c2\u00a0 Wow.\u00c2\u00a0 With dark-chocolate dipped Altoids in my desk, the work day will seem shorter and brighter.\u00c2\u00a0 Try them, if you haven\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t already.\u00c2\u00a0 (I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m guessing that my sister is on her way to the store right now to buy some\u00e2\u20ac\u00a6hey, Jean, they have a goodly dose of caffeine, too!!)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Most of us at the library keep a tin of Altoids in our desk drawer.\u00c2\u00a0 It\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a functional thing: if you have garlic for lunch, you need a remedy.\u00c2\u00a0 After all, you are breathing on the public all day; might as well be minty fresh.
